While Islam is a monotheistic religion that believes in worshiping an almighty God, Buddhism rejects the notion of a creator God but does honor enlightened beings as deities. Buddhism preaches vegetarianism and shunning alcohol and drugs. Islam also bans alcohol but does not preach vegetarianism.
Muhammad vs. Buddha Muhammad (570-632 A.D.) and Siddhartha Gautama (563-483 B.C.) were the key figures in the establishment of Islam and Buddhism, respectively. As two of the major religions on the planet, Buddhism and Islam rule billions of people’s psychological behaviors.
Buddhism is an extremely unique religion in many ways. The major aspect of Buddhism that sets it apart from all other religions is that its founder Siddhartha Gotama, the Buddha, claims to be a human and only a human (rahula, p. 1). The Buddha was not a god and the philosophy of Buddhism does not.
